Full Moon (French release) (1991)

by Spencer Bohren

Released on Virgin Records in France in 1991, these recordings and the attendant radio airply fueled a great demand for Spencer Bohren’s music by French music lovers. The combination of an all original song list and many of New Orleans finest musicians produced one of Spencer’s best albums, yet it has never been available in the United States. Currently out-of-print, it can occasionally be found in French record stores, and has become a collectors’ item on both sides of the Atlantic. Rightly so. The guest artists on the sessions include New Orleans’ legends George Porter on bass and John Vidacovich on drums, Reggie Scanlan and Frank Bua of the Radiators, Tommy Malone, John Magnie and Steve Amadee from the subdudes , as well as Herman Ernest and Eric Traub from the band of New Orleans beloved Doctor John. In addition, the most popular singer in France, Francis Cabrel, lends his distinctive voice to a couple of tracks.
